How to pass post UTME with a high score…
What to read for post UTME
Know where your school’s POST UTME exam questions will come from. POST UTME exam is NOT like JAMB. In JAMB, every applicant has the same syllabus where all the questions come from. JAMB questions may vary a little but they all come from the same host of JAMB questions, most of which are repeated or paraphrased past questions.
But in the case of post UTME, the candidate is left to deal with the kind of questions the school she applied for sets. All the schools in Nigeria don’t set their post UTME questions the same way and they don’t focus on the same topics or subjects.
To make the matter more interesting, in some schools, DO NOT think that your post UTME subjects will be the same as those subjects you picked in JAMB. For some schools, they ask questions from general topics. So, you may enter the screening test hall and see questions from current affairs and other subjects related to your course when you are hoping that questions will come from the four subjects you wrote in JAMB.
How to deal with this is easy: find out how your school sets post UTME questions. Do they do it according to the subjects the candidate wrote in her JAMB or they do some random stuff? This is very important and the earlier you find that out the better.
How to prepare for post UTME
Prepare with the POST UTME past questions of the school you applied for. That is, lay your hands on the post UTME past questions of your school and get started immediately. If you know how important JAMB past questions is for JAMB, this is the same way post UTME past questions could be very important for someone preparing to sit for the screening test.
So, go get a copy of the post UTME past questions and answers for your school. This will also help you know if your school sets post UTME questions based on the candidate’s JAMB subjects or otherwise.
By now you don’t need to be told but, let me just pretend you don’t already know that the secret of every exam success lies in full preparation and for you to be fully prepared for your post UTME exam you need to start early. The earlier, the better.
Know the exam mode of your school (CBT or ?)
This is also worth mentioning. Computer Based Test (CBT) is the thing now. Many schools have adopted CBT as their mode of exam for post UTME. CBT is fast, convenient, reduce malpractices and eliminates manual marking of scripts. No wonder many schools are opting for it against paper and pencil. So, find out if your school conducts CBT post UTME or paper and pen/pencil exam.
