How to work on your dreams in life while in school

Many startups founders, entrepreneurs, skilled individuals, professionals and successful persons living today started working on their dreams while in school.

Take startups for example,

  • Jobberman (co-founders Olalekan Olude, Ayodeji Adewunmi and Opeyemi Awoyemi),
  •  ToLet (co-founders Seyi Ayeni, Sulaiman Balogun, Fikayo Ogundipe and Dapo Eludire),
  •  Abiola Olaniran, Gamsole founder,
  • Rick Rubin (Def Jam Records),
  • Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook),
  • Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy (SnapChat),

etc,

all started while in school.

Of course, everyone can’t be like Zuckerberg or build the next Google, but there are millions of people who are rich and living fine based on the dream they started working on while in school.

And you can, too!

Few tips that can help you pursue your dream, especially now that you are still a student

Discover and define your dream

Yes, it starts from there: discovering your dream.

In other words, what will you like to become in the nearest future.

We know about the childhood dreams where almost everyone wants to be a pilot, doctor or lawyer. The good thing is you now know better than when you were a little kid.

Do you still want to be a pilot? If yes, that’s great. You know your dream.

If on the other hand you are not really sure the person you will like to become, it is not too late yet to figure that out.

So take that first step and answer the questions “what is my dream in life?”

You can use this line below to get started:

I want to be a [what you want to be] so I can [do something good].

What does it take?

Now that you have a dream, something you are passionate about and would love to see yourself achieve that dream, the next step is to ask,

what does it take to achieve this dream?

Here you want to check the steps and retirements.

For example, if you want to be a teacher, you need to study education courses, for a doctor, you need to study medicine in school, etc.

Know what it takes and how long it takes so you have a possible deadline in mind.

How to achieve your dreams

When you have a dream and you have thought about what it might take to make that dream come true, the next question that comes to mind is “how do I make ut happen”?

Now the answer to this question will vary greatly, from individual to another, and from dream to dream.

For example, someone who wish to become a great software developer might consider to start learning how to build state-of-the-art software with YouTube tutorials, eBooks, programming tutorials, etc.

So, how you begin to take that steps depends a lot on your dream and whats it requires.

Remember,

You can be that person you want to be if, you can put the effort to work on achieving your dreams.

It is never too late to get started.
